Dharam Kaushik, M.D.

Dharam Kaushik, MD, is an Associate Professor and program director of the urologic oncology fellowship in the Department of Urology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He specializes in kidney, bladder, penile, urethral, testicular and prostate cancers.

Dr. Kaushik completed his urology surgical residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska, and a clinical fellowship in urologic oncology with leaders in cancer surgery at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota.

Dr. Kaushik has expertise in the surgical management of advanced renal cell cancer, including complex tumor thrombus cases, which require a multidisciplinary approach and robotic and open complex partial nephrectomies. He also has extensive experience in retroperitoneal lymph node dissection (RPLND) for testicular cancer, radical cystectomy for bladder cancer, orthotopic neobladder reconstruction, and inguinal lymph node dissection to remove lymph nodes from the groin area and salvage prostatectomy for post-radiation failure in prostate cancer.

His primary research interests include renal cell cancer with tumor thrombus, detection of novel biomarkers, newer therapeutic targets and studying the mechanism of drug resistance in renal cell cancer.

Dr. Kaushik was named one of San Antonio’s Top Doctors for Women and San Antonio’s Top Doctors 2021.
