About Mio Kitano, MD
Dr. Mio Kitano is an assistant professor in the Division of Surgical Oncology and Endocrine Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio. She completed her general surgery residency at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine. During her surgical training, she completed a three-year clinical research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health. She joined the UT Health San Antonio in 2016 after completing a two-year clinical fellowship in general complex surgical oncology at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. Dr. Kitano’s clinical practice focuses on the surgical management of both benign and malignant thyroid and parathyroid tumors, adrenal and neuroendocrine tumors, and gastrointestinal malignancies, including those of the stomach, small bowel, and pancreas.
Dr. Kitano was also named one of San Antonio’s Top Doctors 2021.
